Designed to be simple yet engaging, Tower Climbers emphasizes clean gameplay mechanics, polished feel, delivering a fun and nostalgic platforming experience.
HOW I MADE IT?
The player character is designed to feel responsive and intuitive, allowing the player to move and jump freely. The player can engage with enemies and the world through attack, take damage, trigger animations and audio feedback, and seamlessly transition through states like death and movement, keeping the experience fluid and immersive.
This one-way platform logic continuously checks under the player while they’re in the air, using a box trace from the feet to detect a platform beneath them. If the player is moving downward onto the platform it switches the capsule collision to Block so they can land, and if not (like jumping up through it) it switches to Overlap so the player passes through cleanly.
This jump pad detects when the player steps on it and instantly launches them upward, giving a clear sense of momentum and lift. It also triggers a short animation and sound effect, making the interaction feel responsive, satisfying, and easy to read for the player.
This logic helps the enemy “patrol” smartly by checking if there’s still ground in front of it and whether the ledge detector is overlapping anything (like a wall). If it detects the platform ends or a wall blocks the path, it triggers a quick rotate/turn-around so the enemy reverses direction and keeps moving naturally.
